Marketing for construction companies and architecture practices

You do not sell to the public. You sell to the developer who is choosing who builds or who designs the next one, and that decision is made on evidence: work delivered, schedules met, and whether they have heard of you before the meeting.

A 30-minute video call. The audit document and the 90-day plan.

What changes

  • Work arrives by referral, which cannot be forecast or scaled.

  • Twenty years of buildings are documented in nobody’s archive, so none of it is usable.

  • Tenders are lost to firms that are worse and better known.

  • The practice’s reputation lives in the founder’s contacts and dies with them.

Your buyer is a developer, and they hire on evidence.

The category has almost no search volume and enormous ticket size, which changes the shape of the work entirely. Content is not written to attract traffic but to survive a shortlist: the developer who has your name on a list of three will search you, and what they find decides the meeting. So the plan is documented work, trade media, and a founder with a public criterion, rather than a content calendar.

How it runs

Documented work instead of a gallery

Each project written with the schedule, the constraints, the solution and the figures. A gallery shows what it looks like; a documented project shows how you work.

The founder’s criterion, in public

LinkedIn and trade articles on cost, industrialised construction, materials and deadlines. It is what makes you the obvious call rather than one of three.

Trade media where developers read

A monthly article and a quarterly placement, which for a shortlist is worth more than any advertising.

A site that survives being searched

Because it will be, by every developer who is about to award work. What they find there is the last thing that happens before the meeting.

Questions

Almost nobody searches for what we do. Is SEO worth it?

Not as a traffic play. It is worth it so that the developer who searches your name before awarding finds documented work instead of a gallery from 2016. The volume is tiny and each visit is worth a contract.

Can you publish our clients’ projects?

Only with their permission, and it is asked in writing. Confidentiality in this sector is real and we are not going to cost you a client for a case study.

Does the founder have to write?

The founder has to have the criterion. We write it, they approve it, and it goes out under their name because that is who a developer wants to hear from.

We do public tenders. Does this help?

Not with the scoring, which is the scoring. It helps with everything that happens before and after: being known, being searchable, and having the work documented when the technical bid asks for references.
